Frequently Asked Questions:

1. How do I know which recording product is best for me?

2. Do I need to buy a microphone separately?
E-MU products do NOT come with a microphone. If you wish to record using a microphone, you will need to buy one seperately. Alternatively, you can plug your electric instrument (eg. guitar, keyboard) straight into your E-MU audio dock.

3. Do I need to buy anything else in order to record with my e-mu product?
This depends on what instruments you would like to record. You may need microphones, you will need cables to connect your instrument(s) to your E-MU system.

4. What type of microphone would be best for me?
This depends on the quality of the recording you would like to make and also how much you are willing to spend. You will also need to consider what you will be recording. Will it be vocals or instruments and what instruments?

5. I already have an audio dock. What product would be best for me?
You need to consider what features you would like and how much you would like to pay. The E-MU systems that would be best for you would be either the 0404, 1212m, The Emulator X or the Proteus X.

6. Once I have purchased my E-MU system, how will I know how to use it?
Every E-MU product comes with a detailed manual. This is not hard to read and includes many pictures and diagrams.

7. What E-MU systems are suitable for laptops?
The E-MU systems that are made for laptops are the 1616 and the 1616m. The 1616m has professional quality audio converters. This sound quality is the best it comes. If you still want excellent, clear quality, but it does not have to be the best, the 1616 would be a great product for you.

8. What is an audio dock?
The audio dock is the device which instruments and microphones plug into for recording. This unit will also connect to your computer, sending it any audio data from your connected microphone or instrument.

9.How many instruments can I record at once?
This depends on the product you buy and what type of connections you have for each instrument. Read the page about the particular product you are interested in to find out more about this.
